The Otavalo market is known worldwide for its extensive tradition and colors. It is a massive handicrafts market, one of the largest in South America! Tons of traditionally dressed Quechua locals take over the streets throughout the downtown area, selling beautiful art, crafts, livestock, and clothing—everything you can imagine!
You will LOVE the food in Cotacachi, also known as Ciudad del Cuero, and all the great but cheap restaurants in town. The waterfall that after a short walk will impress you with its beauty. Truly amazing views of the Andes just above the volcanic crater. We invite you to join this very colorful tour with a local flavor.

Itinerary
Día 1
OTAVALO MARKET AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
- Early in the morning, we will drive 2 hours and a half through the north side of the Ecuadorian Andes, where we will first cross the Guayllabamba Valley (Valle Verde), and we will be able to enjoy delicious typical fruits of the area, such as Chirimoya and Lima.
- Then we will arrive at one of the most visited areas by foreigners and local tourists; Imbabura, also called "Province of the Lakes". And we will continue our journey through an area with various viewpoints - these are the perfect spots for people who like photography.
- When we reach the end of the viewpoints, we will stop to visit the Otavalo indigenous market, which is very famous for its quality crafts and their export to the whole world.
- Then we will take you to visit a wonderful waterfall known as Peguche, a sacred place where the locals renew their energies and you will too!
- After that, it's time to stop at the Cotacachi area, which is known for its famous quality cow and sheep leather goods and we can also stop for lunch, there are several typical dishes and you can have the chance to taste the guinea pig if you wish.
- Finally, we will return to Quito.
